Who are the gods? Some traditions teach that there are many gods, and others that there is just one. Many ancient cultures have stories of gods coming to earth in physical form and interacting with humans in a variety of ways. For example, in The Iliad, the Olympian gods appear at various times as if physically present to the combatants. In at least one tradition, the gods mated with human females to create hybrid offspring. Genesis 6:2 and 4 reports, “the sons of God saw that the daughters of humans were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose” and that these offspring were mighty men, men of renown. If the gods mated with humans, do we carry their imprints? (Follow-up workshop: Session 22c)
